CHS Goals: Recognize Attitude, Academics & Attendance

Starting the year off right: Instead of just going over the rules, we wanted to have fun doing it while promoting Rayder Pride. Freshmen found a Rayder 2013 t-shirt hanging in their locker (donated by area businesses). All students were treated to Zumba dancing, a scavenger hunt & tug-of-war. Students also made a commitment to graduate by putting their hand-print on canvas which is now hanging in the commons. Thanks Ace Hardware for donating the paint to help with this activity and to Buday's Sound, Integrity Construction, St. Mary's Cement, Performance Engineering and Carlson's Home Improvement for donating the t-shirts.

Freshmen Orientation

Morning Announcements: Who knew something as simple as morning announcements could make such a big impact! Our announcements are entertaining thanks to teachers Mrs. Sidlauskas & Miss Tabaczka. We not only give updates on school activities, but also recognize students who have been accepted to a post-secondary school or military branch, and we acknowledge our "Rayders of the Day" - a program in which teachers nominate students for good behavior and academic achievements.
Good Morning CHS

Doughnuts: Once a week Principal Mrs. Klinger enters the school with a box of 30 doughnuts (donated by Glen's Grocery Store). She then enters various rooms asking three questions, "Was everyone on time? Was everyone prepared with their work? And - Is everyone here? Is the answer is "YES" to all three questions, students are rewarded with doughnuts (and boy are they delicious!).

We're going places: And we want the world to know it. Over 81% of seniors in 2009 applied to a post-secondary school (and number rises every year). To honor and recognize these kids, the banners hanging in the commons as well as the "shout-outs" over the announcements give kids the honor they deserve.

Rayder of Day: It's the little things that count - maybe it's an improvement on a test, or perhaps you participated greatly in class. We want everyone to know what a great job you've done. The Rayder of the Day does this. Ten kids are nominated per week who all receive a famous "Lori" cookie and one students (whose name is randomly drawn receives a gift certificate to Buffalo Wild Wings. Thanks Buffalo Wild Wings for your generous donation.

Are you a RAD Rayder?: RAD Rayders do kind, good deed gestures without being asked. And, as a reward, they get a RAD Rayder Card. These cards can be redeemed for such things as: early out to lunch, early dismissal for the day, or even admission to our ipod cafe. This program is in its infant stages.

Promoting Academics: CHS is consistently much above state and national averages on the Michigan Merit Exam and the ACT. Academics are important. To promote academics we have the 100% club in which certificates are given to students and display on a poster in the upstairs hall. Once per week, a drawing is held with all the weekly certificates. Students can win various gift certificates to area businesses.
